Dragon Boat Festival

每年的农历五月初五，
Měi nián de nónglì wǔ yuè chū wǔ,
Dragon Boat Festival is on the 5th day of the fifth lunar month,

是中国重要的传统节日之一——端午节。

屈原投江之后,
Qū Yuán tóu jiāng zhīhòu,

爱戴他的人民纷纷划着船去寻找他的遗体，
àidài tā de rénmín fēnfēn huá zhe chuán qù xúnzhǎo tā de yítǐ,
people who loved him rowed to find his body,

希望找到以后可以好好安葬他。
xīwàng zhǎo dào yǐhòu kěyǐ hǎohǎo ānzàng tā。
hoping to bury him well.

同时，他们也用竹叶包了一些米饭
Tóngshí, tāmen yě yòng zhú yè bāo le yìxiē mǐfàn
At the same time, they also wrapped some rice with bamboo leaves

投到江里去喂食鱼虾。
tóu dào jiāng lǐ qù wèishí yú xiā。
and threw them into the river to feed fish and shrimps.

这样鱼虾有了吃的东西之后，
Zhèyàng yú xiā yǒu le chī de dōngxi zhīhòu,

就不会去吃屈原的身体了。

所以，这也就有了我们端午节的两项重要的活动——
Suǒyǐ, zhè yě jiù yǒu le wǒmen Duānwǔ Jié de liǎng xiàng zhòngyào de huódòng——
Therefore, there are two important activities of Dragon Boat Festival –

龙舟比赛和包粽子。
lóngzhōu bǐsài hé bāo zòngzi。
Dragon Boat Races and making zongzi.

此外，一些人在这一天也会在家门口挂艾草，
Cǐwài, yìxiē rén zài zhè yì tiān yě huì zài jiā ménkǒu guà ài cǎo,
In addition, some people will hang wormwood at the door of their home on this day,

这样可以驱邪避虫，
Zhèyàng kěyǐ qū xié bì chóng,
which can drive away evil spirits and avoid insects,
