刘老师：请进，请进！
大卫：老师，您的家真干净啊！
刘老师：是吗？来，坐这儿吧！
大卫：这是给您的礼物。
刘老师：哎呀！你们太客气了。
大卫：一点儿心意，请收下。
刘老师：谢谢！你们喝什么？茶还是果汁？
大卫：随便，什么都行。
玛丽：我喝茶。
刘老师：路上顺利吗？
玛丽：不太顺利，车上有点儿挤。
刘老师：你们一般坐公共汽车还是打车？
大卫：我喜欢坐公共汽车，空调大巴很舒服。
玛丽：我喜欢坐地铁。
......
刘老师：你们饿不饿，中午在我家吃饺子，怎么样？
大卫：太好了，我最喜欢吃的就是饺子。
刘老师：你们会包吗？
玛丽：不太会，我们试试吧！

Dà wèi: Yìdiǎnr xīnyì, qǐng shōuxia.
Liú lǎoshī: Xièxie! Nǐmen hē shénme? Chá háishi guǒzhī?
Dà wèi: Suíbiàn, shénme dōu xíng.
Mǎlì: Wǒ hē chá.
Liú lǎoshī: Lùshàng shùnlì ma?
Mǎlì: Bú tài shùnlì, chē shang yǒudiǎnr jǐ.
Liú lǎoshī: Nǐmen yìbān zuò gōnggòng qìchē háishi dǎchē?
Dà wèi: Wǒ xǐhuan zuò gōnggòng qìchē, kōngtiáo dàbā hěn shūfu.
Mǎlì: Wǒ xǐhuan zuò dìtiě.

Liú lǎoshī: Nǐmen è bu è, zhōngwǔ zài wǒjiā chī jiǎozi, zěnmeyàng?
Dà wèi: Tài hǎole, wǒ zuì xǐhuan chī de jiù shì jiǎozi.
Liú lǎoshī: Nǐmen huì bāo ma?
Mǎlì: Bú tài huì, wǒmen shìshi ba!

Teacher Liu: Please, come in.
David: Teacher, your home is so clean!
Teacher Liu: Is it? Thanks. Come, sit here!
David: This is a gift for you.
Teacher Liu: Wow! You guys are too polite.
David: les just a small token (of our regard). Please take it.
Teacher Liu: Thank you. What will you have to drink — tea or fruit juice? David: Whichever, anything's fine.
Mary: I'll have..
Teacher Liu: Was it a smooth trip (getting here) ?
Many: Not too smooth. It was kind of crowded on the bus.
Teacher Liu: Do you guys usually take the bus or go by taxi?
David: I like taking the (public) bus. The air-conditioned buses are very comfortable.
Mary: I like taking the subway.

Teacher Liu: Are you hungry? How about if we have dumplings at home for lunch?
David: That would be great. Dumplings happen to be my favorite food.
Teacher Liu: Do you (guys) know how to wrap dumplings?
Mary: Not too well. Let's give it a try!
