Daily Chinese classroom-lesson 3--How to order coffee in Chinese?

你好, everybody. Welcome back!我是小桥.
What a nice day today! It’s a perfect day for going out to enjoy the coffee and the sunshine. Isn’t it? Today I’d like to introduce some useful expressions on having coffee to you, and with the numbers we learnt in our last class, you will be able to ask someone out for a coffee and fix a time for it.
For starters, how do we say coffee in Chinese? The pronunciation is actually quite similar: 咖啡。“咖啡”is very popular in western countries while in China most people have the habit of drinking tea. We say茶,。When we talk about drinking tea or coffee we need a verb 喝, to drink. So to drink coffee, “喝咖啡” “喝咖啡。喝咖啡。” and to drink tea , “喝茶”“喝茶” 喝茶。The first thing you might do every morning is喝咖啡。and the thing I do every day is, 喝茶,喝茶
But coffee and tea are more than just something we drink every day. Most often, we enjoy having coffee or tea with our friends because it offers a good chance for us to catch up. That’s exactly the reason why we ask our friends out to have coffee with us. So we need to learn the Chinese way of doing that.(插入朋友们一起喝咖啡的图片,因为喝茶和喝咖啡不仅为了喝,更多是为了交流)
When we ask someone out, we have to sound polite. While the English way of doing that is to use a common sentence pattern: “let’s…”, the Chinese has one word “吧”“吧”“吧”. It is a modal particle, used at the end of a sentence to suggest somebody doing something.
If we use “一起…吧”, we should be able to deliver that polite tone. So instead of just saying: 我们喝咖啡
Now that the invitation is out, the next thing is to fix a time for the date. Let’s learn a question word first, “几”,“几” “几” how many (for small numbers only)
And, “点” means o’clock, it’s the word we always use whenever time is concerned. “点”“点”. “几点” means what time? It’s used to ask the exact time. “几点” “几点”
To be able to tell the exact time, I guess we have to be quite familiar with all the numbers we have learnt. Let’s go over these numbers. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 . 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.
And we should be able to tell the time now. let’s give it a try, the first picture

“几点?” “四点”。 Next one, 几点?. “五点”. Let’s continue, “几点?” “六点”。“六点” “几点?” err…eleven o’clock. We have not introduced any number over 10 yet, but it’s actually not that difficult, as you can see, the number“11(eleven)” is the result of 10 plus 1。So we pronounce it as 十一 ,十一。And twelve, the result of 10 plus 2, 十二。(11是由1个10和1个1组成的,11=10+1, 10+2=12)
Can I try the next few? thirteen is 十三。 Fourteen is 十四。 fifteen is 十五。Did you get it? Great job!
Let’s apply this rule just a little bit further. Twenty is the result of two tens, and it’s pronounced as “二十”. Thirty is the result of three tens, so “三十”。 This way, it shouldn’t be hard as for, forty, fifty and sixty. Right? Give it a try!! (20是由2个10组成的,20=10+10, 30=10+10+10)

You got it!
To fix an exact time for a date, we have to tell the other person whether we are talking about the morning or the afternoon. The morning is “上午” “上午”,and the afternoon is “下午” “下午”。
Now can you tell the exact time in this picture?
上午 十点、上午十点。
How about the next one?
下午 三点。下午三点。
let me put what we have learnt earlier into use:
“下午三点, 我们一起喝咖啡吧!”
“下午三点,我们一起喝咖啡吧!”
If you get an invitation like this but unfortunately can’t make it, you have to say sorry. 对不起 “对不起”“对不起”
And the polite way to respond should be: 没关系。
But if the time suits you fine, or, if you have the time and you’re very glad to go. You should say, 有时间。 “时间” means time.“时间”。 “有”means have , “有”。 Or, we use “没有”,means don’t have.“没有”“没有”
Now we can try some conversations.
Is there a coffee in the picture? 有咖啡吗?
And this one,有咖啡吗?
没有咖啡,有茶。
If we want to know if somebody has time, we should ask “有时间吗?” 有时间吗? look at this man, he is running and looking at his watch, so if I ask “有时间吗? ” His answer should be 没有时间。没有时间。
Now you can make an invitation now.
Let’s go have coffee this morning. 我们上午一起喝咖啡吧!
Sorry, I 'm afraid I don't have the time this morning.对不起,我上午没有时间。

Another new expression we will often use is: 再见 means bye bye. 再见 再见 再见

Basic Chinese Lesson: Common Chinese Measure Words
Preview
A lot of Chinese learners told me no matter how long time they have been learning Chinese, Chinese measure word remains still mysterious for them. The reason why they had this feeling is that measure word in Chinese is a totally new concept, which you can’t find any reference in other languages. So I make videos to introduce the most common Chinese measure words.
‘gè个’ is the first measure word you learn, and truth is when the Chinese kids start to learn the language, it is also the first measure word they learn. gè refers to human being, as in one person is ‘yí ge rén’, also you can add the nationality, for example: yí ge Zhōngguó rén一个中国人 (a Chinese), liǎng ge Měiguó rén两个美国人 (two Americans).
When you buy things

‘gè个’ is the first measure word you learn, and truth is when the Chinese kids start to learn the language, it is also the first measure word they learn. gè refers to human being, as in one person is ‘yí ge rén’, also you can add the nationality, for example: yí ge Zhōngguó rén一个中国人 (a Chinese), liǎng ge Měiguó rén两个美国人 (two Americans).
